Patrese Anderson

Patrese Anderson graduated from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with a PhD in Applied and Agricultural Economics. Currently, Patrese works as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of California, Santa Barbara in the Climate Hazards Center. Her research focuses on the intersection of climate change and food systems. Currently, her work utilizes earth observation products, remote sensing, and machine learning methods to understand how climate anomalies affect staple food prices in Southern Africa. She also holds a Postdoctoral Fellowship appointment working with Kathy Baylis. Her work under this appointment focuses on urban-rural food system linkages in Southern Africa. Prior to joining the University of California, Santa Barbara, Patrese held positions at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign as an instructor of record for Intermediate Microeconomic Theory, a research assistant conducting numerous fieldwork projects in Zambia, and a teaching assistant for Economic Statistics. In her free time, she enjoys hiking and taking long walks with her dog, Charlie.
