Fatiq Nadeem

I am a PhD student at the Bren School of Environmental Science and Management at the University of California, Santa Barbara and a graduate research fellow at the Institute of Development and Economic Alternatives in Lahore, Pakistan. My research is in environmental and development economics with a focus on how citizens in developing countries decide to consume and conserve natural resources. In particular, I evaluate the role of religious institutions to reduce externalities. Most of my recent work uses field experiments to test theory and evaluate interventions.  I have published research on Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America, and South-east Asia and have done extensive fieldwork in South Asia. My work has appeared in peer-reviewed journals such as Science and Energy Policy.
