Catharina Latka

About

Catharina is a postdoc in emLab’s project on economic incentives for land-based climate solutions, funded by Princeton University’s Carbon Mitigation Initiative. In this project she conducts econometric analyses to investigate how market prices affect land use change. As part of a side project, she investigates how food price volatility affects the nutrition of children in sub-Saharan Africa. Catharina’s previous work focused on the assessment of environmental and social sustainability impacts related to food system and policy changes. She was also involved in a successful research proposal about biodiversity outcomes of global biomass trade. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Political Sciences and Economics from University of Münster in Germany, and completed a Master and her Doctoral studies in Agricultural and Food Economics at the University of Bonn in Germany in 2022. In her free time, Catharina enjoys biking, hiking tours, traveling, trying new activities, and good food in nice company.
